Kez, Sam & Eliza Sage
Seeing photos of us from a time BE (Before Eliza) Seeing photos of us from a time BE (Before Eliza) now seems really odd! This was taken when we were in New Zealand at the end of 2019, and feels like a total lifetime ago. We found out we were going to have a baby about 4 months later, and I can remember worrying at random points in the pregnancy that I’d lose my own identity and just become ‘Mummy’. Sure, there are times since Eliza has come along that people gravitate towards her, and only remember to ask how I am some time afterwards. There are also times where I feel as though my life will now forever be in a cycle of feed-change-nap 😅 and there are times where I think ‘what the hell did I do with myself before Eliza came along?’ Motherhood is tough. Everyone says that. But until you’re living it, it’s hard to know what to expect. I’m just thankful that I have the best husband and dad to Eliza I could hope to have, who loves us both just as much as we love him ❤️
I still find it strange catching sight of myself w I still find it strange catching sight of myself with a baby! I’ve wanted a child forever. Even as a youngster, I was obsessed with babies and almost always had an approved list of names for my ‘one day’ baby. Now that she’s here, it all feels like a wonderful dream still, even nine weeks down the line. Does that feeling ever go away? I hope not. Wrap gifted by @freerider.co
Two months of perfect (and not so perfect - swipe Two months of perfect (and not so perfect - swipe to see 👉🏼) moments with Eliza! Some of her favourite things are:
• sleeping on Kez 😴
• dancing vegetables on YouTube 🥕 🌽 🥦
• singing and dancing about dinosaurs 🦕 🦖
• Sam coming home from work 🥰
• having her face cleaned (oddly enough 😂) Where she’s getting more alert and active, I’m looking for some good ideas of things to play and do with her. Let me know some of your best suggestions in the comments!
A smile a day keeps the doctor away... ... or at A smile a day keeps the doctor away... ... or at least it makes Mummy and Daddy forget about the fact that they were kept awake a lot of the night by a needy little one 😅🥰
BIRTH STORY ✨ So we’re almost 2 months down th BIRTH STORY ✨ So we’re almost 2 months down the line and I think it’s time to share more about Eliza’s birth 👶🏼 buckle in! We got to the hospital early in the morning, only to find out we were last in the queue for surgery and had a long wait ahead. It sucked because I wasn’t allowed to eat or drink so I was starving by the time we were walking into theatre at about 1.30pm! The team were AMAZING. I told the anaesthetist that I was anxious about the needles and she took care to talk me through each injection and sharp bit. Then everyone filed into the room, introduced themselves, were informed of my birth plan (Sam to announce the gender and trim the cord) and the operation began. We had prepped a playlist beforehand, and the first song was ‘Always Remember Us This Way’ from A Star Is Born. The procedure is super quick, and as the song played we knew that our baby would be born soon and things would never be the same again. We both suddenly got really emotional, and then the next song, a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Forever Young’ started and we heard ‘I can see feet!’ from the anaesthetist (Eliza was breech, which is why we had an elective c-section). Within moments, the screen in front of my face was dropped and there was this little baby, squishy faced and ours. We were so overwhelmed that neither of us saw whether we had a boy or a girl! Then Sam was asked to go and trim the cord, and I heard this huge, strong wail that was undeniably a baby’s cry and I just lost it. I couldn’t stop crying 😂 Whilst Sam was away, the anaesthetist came and sat next to me and held my hand, and she was crying too 😂 it felt like the whole room was emotional and then Sam came back to tell me we had a little girl. She was placed on my chest and all three of us spent ages just staring at one another. It’s hard to put into words how it felt without relying on all the old cliches. It’s nothing I’ve ever experienced before, and something that neither of us will ever forget. 2.17pm on 16th November 2020 is the exact moment our lives changed in ways we’d never have anticipated. Our hearts haven’t been empty since 🥰
We’d be lying if we said getting Eliza dressed e We’d be lying if we said getting Eliza dressed each day wasn’t one of the best things about having a new baby 😍 too cute! Until she vomits all down herself and we need to change her all over again 😅
