Travel bucket lists come in all shapes and sizes; couples travel bucket lists, adventure travel bucket lists, city travel bucket lists… you get the picture. We’ve always had some kind of travel bucket list, be it written down or in our heads. But we only really started to try and systematically work through one once we decided to travel full time.
There isn’t really any logic to our travel bucket list. It includes obvious must sees as well as very specific places or moments. Places far, far away, and places a little closer to home. We’ve decided to share our travel bucket list with you through a series of photo blog posts. We are constantly adding to our list and we feel one post encompassing all of the destinations would be way too long! Plus, this way, we can keep adding to our travel bucket list as we go.
So, welcome to Volume 1 of our Travel Bucket List series! In each post, we are going to share ten highly desirable bucket list destinations, as well as a bonus location from our home country, England. Travelling has made us a lot more appreciative of the beauty of where we come from. We’ve been building a list of places we want to go to when we eventually return home, and we think we ought to share these with you, our fellow travellers, to hopefully spark your wanderlust for Blighty’s glorious shores.
The photos used in this blog post belong to our travelling friends. Click through the galleries to see the images in more detail. If you see a photo you like, make sure you check out their website or Instagram for more!
Although it’s not always on the radar for travellers coming to Australia, Tasmania is exactly what we look for in a travel bucket list destination. Rugged, wild, vast, and sparse, Tassie is the smallest state in Australia with some of the best scenery around.
See our Tasmania road trip itinerary here!
Despite the country’s history, there is something about the colourful buildings, winding streets, and incredible scenery that we cannot ignore. Can you blame us?
If ‘wow’ inducing scenery is what you’re after, then look no further than New Zealand. Since we visited Iceland for our honeymoon, we’ve become addicted to mountains, snow, and sweeping vistas; something NZ has in abundance.

A common destination on any world travellers itinerary, and for good reason. Bali has crashing surf, tropical forests, waterfalls for days, and iconic rice fields. It’s a photographer’s dream.

Fun story: we were planning to spend three weeks camping in Provence one summer, but then we got engaged and needed the annual leave for our actual wedding. Although we never got to complete the trip, it still remains firmly on our travel bucket list!
We both adore Greece, but have never managed to make it to Santorini. With beautiful sunsets and ocean views for days, it seems like the perfect place to relax and unwind. Something we are definitely always in need of!
Not because of the film (ok, maybe a little bit because of the film), but because it is so dang beautiful! Travelling has opened our eyes to so many potential travel bucket list destinations that we would never have considered before, and Madagascar is definitely one of them.
We’ve actually both been here with our families as kids, but we think Sin City would be a great place to blow off some steam together. And with the Grand Canyon in all its glory not far away, we’d get the best of both worlds.
Think less Spring Break and more Mayan ruins, authentic yummy food, and spotless beaches. There is something about Mexico that we can’t stop dreaming about!

Being animal lovers, we’d love to go on a proper safari. Plus, it has some of the best opportunities to cage dive with Great White Sharks on the planet. AND amazing hikes. What more could you want?
We have a newfound appreciation for the Lakes. We’ve both visited before but not spent any real time there, which is a shame because it has some amazing hikes leading to some incredible views. Plus, the towns and villages dotted around the region are super picturesque, so we think it’s deserving of a spot on this travel bucket list!
Have you been to any of these places? Are they on your travel bucket list? Let us know in the comments!
